We Were Here series order

A practical order, not a locked one

Release order is the table: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2026. That is the cleanest way to hear the studio’s co-op language change. It is not a mechanic gate. Forever in 2022 and Expeditions: The FriendShip in 2023 are the immediate predecessors. Players who want one recent game before Tomorrow often pick Expeditions because it is the newest before the ice. Players who want the original pair-in-a-castle fantasy start at app 582500. Both choices are compatible with a Tomorrow session tonight.

Do not expect the older games to teach the Norček prototype or the Particle Accelerator. Those names are Tomorrow’s. The transferable skill is the radio habit: one player sees, one player hears, both players talk. Tomorrow makes that habit explicit with a microphone requirement and walkie-talkies for separated Explorers. If an older game let you get away with vague callouts, the energized surface and the goop lock will not. Read Tools once, even if you have finished Forever.

What you buy for Tomorrow versus the back catalog

Tomorrow’s base price is $19.99 list, with a 10 percent launch discount for the first two weeks, plus the Fan Edition at $6.99 and the soundtrack at $3.99. Those SKUs are not bundles of the 2017–2023 games. Buying app 2315050 does not install Too or Together. Buying the 2017 game does not install the Antarctic facility. The six titles are the lineup. Each app id in the table is a separate install.

Soundtrack app 5202800 and Fan Edition app 5202830 require Tomorrow, not the older games. Tom Wolkers’s 15 tracks belong to this release. If you are collecting the whole series, add those only after the base Tomorrow app is in the library. The older games have had their own soundtrack and supporter SKUs in the past. Older soundtrack and supporter packs stay with those older games. The prices here are only Tomorrow’s soundtrack and Fan Edition, beside the six base games.

A group that has never played a We Were Here game can start at Tomorrow and understand the session from the Radio page: two players, two microphones, crossplay across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A group that has played since 2017 can start at Tomorrow and use the achievement board as the new map. Either group is the audience. The standalone flag is the permission.

Session limits beside series

We Were Here, app 582500, came out on 3 February 2017. It is the castle game if you want the oldest co-op voice before you ever see Norček.

We Were Here Too, app 677160, came out on 2 February 2018. We Were Here Together, app 865360, came out on 10 October 2019. Neither install contains Tomorrow.

We Were Here Forever, app 1341290, came out on 10 May 2022. Expeditions: The FriendShip, app 2296990, came out on 14 September 2023. They are the two games immediately before the ice.

Tomorrow, app 2315050, came out on 20 October 2026. The stories connect, and none of the earlier five is a required install before the Antarctic facility.

Start on the 2017 castle or start on the ice tonight. The Hook Gun, the Goop Gun, and Director Kathleen Bowe are in Tomorrow either way.

Buying app 2315050 does not install Too or Together. Buying the 2017 game does not install the facility under the ice. Each app id is its own library entry.

Tomorrow’s own add-ons are the Fan Edition at $6.99 and the soundtrack at $3.99. They are not a bundle of the 2017 through 2023 games.
